Basically anything I find amusing. You have been warned. This includes, but is not limited to: Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Downton Abbey, Bones, Kingdom Hearts, Regina Spektor, ancient Egypt, random animal pictures
staff you are literally making your website harder for people to use. That isn’t hyperbole or over reaction.
You swapped the ‘post’ and ‘close’ (cancel) buttons.
EVERYONE has muscle memory, everyone is going to at least catch themselves about to hit the wrong button. But especially those with cognitive problems with change.
You removed the formatting bar & hid it in popups.
This literally loses functionality with read more cutoffs, which did not formerly need an entire new line break to be used. It is intrusive when highlighting text for editing purposes (such as restructuring) and distracting. Yes, a large amount of users will adjust. However, there is a responsibility of accessibility for platforms, especially platforms that have a significant user-base that HAVE accessibility problems.
In short, you are changing fundamental parts of your interface to appear “sleek” or “edgy” or whatever other reason you have behind the decision.
But in the process you are turning a blind eye to your users that are negatively affected by such fundamental changes.
In particular, the lack of a formal “beta test” (as far as I am aware) is particularly telling, as it is indicative of an arrogance of knowing what your users want without bothering to ask. Transparency in social media staff decision making is vital in maintaining trust with your users.
staff you are simply not trusted by your users. You have deserved this mistrust on multiple occasions.
And you are going to lose your user base.
You are not buttbook. You are not embedded into society; there isn’t a tumblr page for my local dentist. The only incentives to remain here is content & social circles. BOTH of those can be relocated to literally anywhere.
Already there are websites being formed promising a better, more accessible, more transparent-decisions, more feedback-fueled experience. AND ways to migrate data. (And tbh, even lacking a data-migration ability, people can do things manually just fine.)
With your reckless actions, staff , it’s not a matter of IF you lose users, it’s a matter of when.
@everyone read this reblog this make it heard
It also doesn’t help when you make these unnecessary “aesthetic” updates and yet ignore the more necessary ones that people point out to you, such as a blocking system that doesn’t just put a fucking glass screen between you and whoever you’re blocking. What is the point of sending a Help mail to you guys if you’re just going to fucking ignore it?

7/11 breathing. A skill to use for anxiety. It’s recommended to do it for 10-15 minutes. Like any other skill it does require a lot of practice. I advice that you practice it when you are feeling calm so you are ready in a time of need. If you lose count, which is easily done, simply start again until you do 15 minutes. It will also help with distraction even if you don’t get it right the first hundred times.
Breathing out longer than you breathe in actually activates your parasympathetic nervous system!
Anxiety is your sympathetic nervous system (“fight or flight”) setting off all the alarms, while breathing like this will set the parasympathetic system (“rest and digest”) into action shutting off the alarms and settling your nerves.
Other things that help: laughing, checking out what’s going on around you (moving head and eyes to orient to your surroundings), getting curious about something.
yall realize the average lifespan for a trans woman is 30-32 years.. and that is largely because of hate crimes resulting in murder.. ALL feminists need to support trans women and not just because they want to because they need to
The reason why the room was pink was because on black and white film, hues of red become dark shades of black. Pink is the perfect balance to give it that dark creepy grey.
PHOTOGRAPHY BITCHES
A related fun fact: while old black and white film was under-sensitive to reds, it was correspondingly over-sensitive to greens. Actors whose characters were meant to have unnaturally pale complexions - like Morticia Addams - would often take advantage of this by wearing makeup with a green base tint in order to make their faces “pop”. This is where the modern trope of cartoon vampires having green skin comes from.
Jay Leno at the National Association of Television Program Executives in Miami, when asked about the rape allegations against Bill Cosby
I don’t know if it was intentional, or if it’s just me magnifying my critical feminist lens too closely, but I think Leno dropped something huge here:
There are people in America who dismiss and derail women’s issues here by saying “at least you’re not getting stoned to death like you would in the Middle East”. It’s not that they care about the terrible and violent injustices happening to women in parts of the Middle East, they just want to use these women as mascots for why women in America shouldn’t be angry for the injustices we face here.
We’ve distanced ourselves as if we were truly the land of the free, as if we were truly safe. And yet, here in America, we don’t, we won’t believe our own women. We won’t even believe twenty-five of them. How evolved and enlightened could we really be?
